Should I Upgrade to an i7-7700k or Save for a New PC?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using an i7-6700 paired with a GTX 1080 Ti that I got from a friend, but I feel like the GPU is being bottlenecked. I have a Z170 Pro motherboard and found a used i7-7700k for €70. Do you think investing in this upgrade is worthwhile, or is it better for me to save up for an entirely new PC? I appreciate any insights!

I also had your exact setup and looked into partial upgrades. In the end, I built a whole new rig but was able to keep my storage and fans. It's just not worth upgrading piecemeal.

Honestly, I wouldn't go for the i7-7700k. You're not really upgrading much; it's more of a sideways move. That €70 would be better spent towards a new platform entirely.

I agree with the others. Upgrading to the 7700k isn't going to give you a noticeable boost. I've gone through similar upgrades, and in the end, I invested in a new CPU and motherboard combo for a 10th-gen system, which made a huge difference. You could get a decent improvement without spending a fortune!

At best, you’re looking at a 1-2% performance increase, which is hardly significant. Save for a new PC where you can get a much greater performance boost!

The 7700k isn't worth it for you; there are better options out there. I had the same setup and noticed only a slight performance difference when considering that upgrade. You’re much better off saving for a complete system overhaul.
