I'm currently using a 9070XT paired with a 7600X CPU, and I'm starting to feel like my processor is holding me back. I'm considering upgrading, but I noticed that the 7700X is over $100 cheaper than the 9700X here in Canada. Given that I don't have to worry about power consumption costs (everything's included where I live), is it worth spending the extra money on the 9700X, or should I just save and go for the 7700X instead?

Honestly, going for an X3D model is probably the best option if you’re looking for a real upgrade. Both the 7700X and 9700X don't offer a big leap in performance over the 7600X during regular gaming sessions.
I’d suggest looking into tuning your RAM and enabling Precision Boost Overdrive on your current setup. The 7600X is actually pretty solid for gaming, and unless you’re going for extreme frame rates or playing very CPU-intensive games, it might not be worth the upgrade.
Only consider an upgrade to something like the 7800X3D or 9800X3D. Those models offer a noticeable improvement for gaming, especially if you're into competitive play or sim games. Otherwise, the 7600X should be fine for your current setup.
It really depends on your gaming resolution. If you're gaming at 1440P or even 4K, your current CPU isn't a huge bottleneck for the 9070XT. The 7700X won’t perform significantly better than your 7600X in most scenarios, so I’d lean towards saving that cash unless you have specific games in mind that need the extra power.
