I'm currently running Windows 10 on my desktop and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to Windows 11 before I install a lot more stuff on it. I've heard it's a free upgrade from Microsoft, is that true? I'm also considering switching to Ubuntu or Xubuntu if Windows 11 ends up being too resource-heavy.

Just make sure you back up your data before upgrading anything. BIOS changes or disk setups can sometimes go wrong and you don't want to lose anything important!
Have you received a notification about the upgrade being ready? Also, what are your current system specs? That could help us figure out if Windows 11 is a good fit for you.
If you're thinking of switching away from Windows, give Ubuntu a try! But keep in mind that some software you might use on Windows may not be available on Linux, so it requires some adjustment.
To check if you're eligible for the upgrade, just head to the updates section in the Windows search bar. It'll let you know if you can make the jump to Windows 11.
