Should I Use a Second GPU for Gaming?

I've recently upgraded my system from a Ryzen 7 9700 and a 4070 to a Ryzen 9 9900 and a 5070. However, I'm not seeing fantastic performance while playing Escape from Tarkov at 3440x1440 resolution, especially with a secondary 2560x1440 monitor connected. Do you think adding my old 4070 as a second GPU would help improve performance?

If you're thinking about using a second GPU, the only way that could potentially help is through software like Lossless Scaling, which allows the second GPU to handle frame generation. But be warned, it might come with noticeable visual issues that could impact your gaming experience.

Using two GPUs doesn't really work like just doubling your power, you can't expect a 10040 performance. Each GPU works independently, and most games aren't designed to take full advantage of multiple graphics cards together. In terms of Tarkov, running it at 4K will generally result in lower frame rates no matter how good your setup is. Even with a top-tier i9 and a 4070, I hit around 100-120 frames at 2560x1440, and I'd be satisfied with 60 at 4K. Also, having a second monitor won't hurt your frame rates; I’ve been running two monitors without any issues. Honestly, adding a second GPU might do more harm than good due to increased power usage and heat.
