I'm wondering whether I should go for brass or nylon standoffs for my motherboard. I've always thought they just keep the board elevated, but I'd like some clarity on the best material to use. What do you all think?

If you’re looking to buy more, I’d suggest going for brass. They’re generally more reliable, but again, you can use nylon in a pinch.

In my experience, I prefer brass standoffs. They help with grounding and offer better protection by allowing static electricity to discharge quickly to the case, providing a little extra safety, depending on your setup.

Honestly, whatever came with your case is probably best. Most cases typically include metal standoffs, which should work just fine.

I’d stick with brass if you can! They just seem sturdier. But hey, if you can't find brass, don’t stress too much; nylon also does the job.

You can actually use either brass or nylon standoffs. Their main job is just to keep the backside of the motherboard from touching the metal case, so it doesn’t create a short circuit.
