Should I Use My Rear Fan as an Intake Instead of Exhaust?

I'm considering changing my rear case fan to an intake instead of keeping it as an exhaust. Given that I'm using a CPU air cooler, wouldn't it be better to draw cooler air in for the CPU? I've attached an image that illustrates my setup, but I'm likely only going to use two fans at the bottom in my ASUS AP201 case. What are your thoughts?

Just keep in mind that if you don’t have a dust filter on that rear fan, you’re going to let a lot of dust in. I’d recommend getting a magnetic dust filter to help with that!

It could work well, especially if your CPU is generating a lot of heat. I’ve heard some setups benefit from moving air in that direction. What components are you running?

I’m planning on a Ryzen 9060x and a 5070ti.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here. If your setup keeps everything cool and airflow isn’t being messed up too much, you should be fine with that rear fan as an intake. It really depends on your case and how everything is arranged internally.

It's usually advised to draw in filtered air and exhaust unfiltered air, so just be cautious with that. If you don’t have a filter on the rear, dust could become a hassle.

I experimented with this setup too, and it's been great! Just ensure your fan placements are right for optimum airflow. How's the cooling been for you so far?
