Streaming Apps on Xbox Keep Crashing After 30 Seconds—What’s Up?

I've been having some issues with my Xbox Series X and streaming apps on my 2013 Samsung TV. Everything loads up fine, but 30 seconds into a video, the apps crash and show an error code tvq-pb-101 (5.6.1). This just started happening today because everything was working perfectly this morning! YouTube still plays without any issues, and the apps work fine on my phone.

Here's a little more about my setup:
- Xbox Series X
- Samsung PS51F5000AM (2013 Non-Smart Plasma)
- HDMI connection directly to the TV (I'm not using a soundbar or receiver)

I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps including hard resetting my Xbox, checking my network connection, reinstalling apps, and even tinkering with HDMI settings. It seems like it might be an HDCP security issue, given the age of my TV. I'm wondering if there's been an Xbox update recently that might have caused this or if my TV is just too outdated now. Any suggestions on what else I can try?

Sounds like a pretty common issue based on what I've been seeing! If both your Xbox and your TV are from the same era, it might just be incompatibility with newer updates. Have you tried using a different TV or device to see if the apps function there? Also, a streaming stick like Roku or Amazon Fire Stick might help you bypass the problem with your old TV. If it works, you know it’s the TV that's the problem!

I haven’t tried another TV yet, but getting a streaming stick is a good idea! Maybe I’ll check out some options and see if that solves the issue.

I did some digging, and it looks like Samsung stopped updating newer security protocols for that older TV model a long time ago. If your apps worked until now, I wonder if something changed in the app updates that’s now making it incompatible. You might want to reach out to customer support for both Samsung and Xbox to see if they have any advice.

We've been experiencing the same crashing issue with Disney+ and Netflix too. My LG TV is up-to-date, and so is my Xbox Series X. It seems like it’s not just isolated to one brand or model of the TV.

I've been dealing with the same thing today! My Xbox and Samsung TV are acting up in the same way. All streaming apps except YouTube are crashing after about 30 seconds, but they work perfectly on my iPad. I’ve also tried all the fixes, so I’m hoping someone finds a solid solution soon!
