I'm reaching out for advice on job hunting, especially in the tech field. I've tried using platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed, and I've networked, but nothing seems to be clicking for me. With a background as a software engineer and some IT roles, including experience with Docker and Kubernetes, I'm feeling a bit lost. I started working with cloud technologies back in 2016, so I have several years of experience in the field, but it's still been tough to land a job. I'm a US citizen currently working in a GMT+8 timezone and I feel like I might be missing something crucial. Can anyone point me in the right direction or share their insights?

On a more practical note, maybe it's time to look at other types of work to get your foot back in the door. Even something like a barista gig might help ease back into the workforce, though I can see it’s frustrating when you face constant rejections from places like Starbucks or Panda Express.
Have you been consistently working since 2016? If you truly have 10 years of experience in tech, it seems odd that you're not landing interviews. It's alarming how some folks get stuck in this rut. I mean, two years of real experience can be tough, but lying about your background can really hurt your prospects. You mentioned a lot of self-study and labs; maybe focus on showcasing those skills on your resume better. That could help.
Yeah, it really sounds like there's a misunderstanding here. With tech skills like Go, Python, and React, you'd think opportunities would come knocking!
I get that the job market can be super discouraging right now. Have you considered traveling to major tech cities and applying in person? And hey, you're a citizen, which is a big plus. If your skills aren’t obsolete, it’s worth a shot!
I’m not sure that would really work for me, though. I’ve tried similar approaches before, and they didn’t lead anywhere fruitful.

Funny enough, I’ve tried those routes too, and it’s just been rough across the board.
