I've got an Avago Megaraid SAS 9361-81 controller and I'm currently battling a drive issue. One of my RAID 5 drives (HUS726060AL5211) has failed, and since I'm working with older hardware, I'm stuck looking for used drives. The first two replacements I got were dead on arrival, and the next pair shows up but are locked and I can't clear the foreign configuration. I've tried using the LSI Storage Authority, the BIOS interface, and storcli software. From what I see, even though the system indicates the foreign configuration has been cleared, the drive is still locked, and I have no idea what the unlocking key is. I'm reaching out before I go through the hassle of returning these drives again. Can anyone suggest how I can wipe this drive and get it unlocked?

It looks like your drive might be encrypted or protected. Since the drives were used, it's likely the previous owner had them secured. You can check Broadcom's tech docs for details on that.
Resetting the drive configuration should solve your issue. Check out this guide I found on fixing drives marked foreign by an LSI/Avago SAS controller—it might help you out!
Yeah, but it seems the OP hit some errors when trying that. I've seen similar issues occur when drives are reset on different LSI models.
That image you posted shows the drive is still locked. Definitely a hassle!
You could try popping the drive into a regular Windows PC and using a tool like KillDisk for a quick wipe. Sometimes drives need a thorough reset because of weird configurations.
But it's a SAS drive, won't that complicate things?
Have you thought about just getting a new storage device? It sounds like that might save you some headache in the long run.
I totally get that! Budget is tight, so I'm trying to make these work.
When the BIOS says "security not supported", that's usually linked to the foreign config remaining. I've never seen the BIOS fail to clear a foreign config before. If wiping it doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. Your setup's aged a lot, and I get the frustration—these old systems can be rough!
Yeah, the options in my BIOS are really limited, just prepare for removal and locate.
Right? This RAID setup is tied to some expensive gear, so we can't just give up on it!
So it's not the card's fault? Just my luck with second-hand gear!
