I've been having this frustrating issue where my internet suddenly drops, even after running Windows Defender offline and online scans without finding any viruses. I switched to a new internet provider about a week ago, and while it was working fine initially, the drops have started again. There haven't been any changes on my end—no new devices or setups—but this started happening. My previous provider mentioned finding something on my PC but didn't elaborate, and I didn't have time to ask my current provider. I'm on a tight budget and can't afford a new antivirus. Can anyone help?

It sounds like there might be something else going on besides a virus. Can you clarify what you mean by 'it drops'? Are you experiencing a complete disconnect or just slow speeds? Also, what type of device are you using? Is it connected via Wi-Fi or wired? If it’s only this device that’s having issues, it might be specific to that one.
From what you've described, it doesn’t sound like a virus. The internet drops can often be caused by signal issues rather than a malware infection. Since you’re on cable, your speed drop from 300 Mbps to 10 Mbps and the ping spikes could be due to interference or the router itself acting up.
Yeah, the speed dropping is really annoying, especially since I notice it randomly spikes my ping in games too. It feels like it goes from stable to being unplayable every few seconds.
I have a mid-range PC running Windows 11, and I'm connected wirelessly. I've noticed similar problems on my phone, but not as severe. I can’t switch to a wired connection right now. Sorry if my question wasn't clear!
