Hey everyone! So I've been using Windows 11 (22H2), and I received a notification that my version had reached its end of life, prompting me to update. After the update, I experienced a blue screen of death, but a restart seemed to fix it. However, it reported that the update failed. I tried updating again, but now I'm stuck with a black screen after rebooting—restarting my PC isn't helping anymore.
Here's what I've tried:
- Booting into recovery mode via HP BIOS, but it didn't work.
- Attempted to open Task Manager and use Windows + R, but neither functioned.
- I found a flash drive with elementary OS and tried to boot from it, but got a black screen again.
- I remembered I have another flash drive with Ubuntu; same black screen issue occurred.
- I managed to boot Ubuntu in safe graphics mode, but I'm not getting any response.
- I also have a second hard drive with Pop!_OS installed, but after waiting for 20 minutes, I just get a gray screen.
I also have a backup from around March and a USB drive with Ubuntu Server. Honestly, I'm at a loss for what to do next. Any advice?

It sounds like you're having a tough time with that! First off, I'd definitely recommend restoring from your March backup if you can access it. You said it doesn’t show up in the boot manager, which is a bummer; maybe try plugging in your backup drive and see if it appears when you boot up. Often, you'll need to open the BIOS/UEFI settings to choose the right boot device. If you have a working recovery drive, that could also help you get things back on track. Let us know how that goes!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll try that and see if it's visible in the boot manager. Really appreciate the help!
