Switching from Windows to Linux: Need Help with After Effects and Gaming

Hey everyone! I recently made the leap to try out Linux by dual booting Windows 11 and Linux Mint on my setup. My Windows OS is running on one HDD and Linux is on another. I'm really eager to switch fully away from Microsoft because of my personal, political, and privacy concerns—especially since my hardware is starting to feel outdated. The issue is, I work a lot with After Effects and Roblox Studio, and I've realized those programs are quite difficult, if not impossible, to run smoothly on Linux. My current hardware isn't powerful enough for a VM and I can't get my After Effects plugins on Linux either. Gaming is also a big hobby for me, particularly modding, and I worry I'll miss out on that on Linux. I'd love to hear any advice or experiences you might have, as I'm determined to transition away from Windows for good. Thanks!

Congrats on joining the Linux community! Remember, you don't need to become a purist overnight. It takes time to adjust, and your workflow will improve as you learn more about Linux. Just give it some time—there's no need to rush!

Thanks! Just to clarify, I didn't switch today—it's been about two weeks. I'm getting the hang of it, but some specific programs are hard to replace. Appreciate the encouraging words!

Exactly! Each OS has its strengths, and it's perfectly fine to use multiple systems depending on your needs. It's all about finding what works best for you.
