Thinking About Replacing My CPU—Got Some Issues, Need Advice!

Hey everyone! I'm really hoping you can help me out here before I dive into replacing parts. I've got a setup with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060, 32GB of RAM, an AsRock B450M AC R2.0 motherboard, and a 1TB NVMe M.2 storage. Lately, my computer has been acting really strange—it just restarts randomly without any warning, kind of like it crashes but without freezing or showing a blue screen. It's been super frustrating!

I had some electricity issues in the past, but I got a UPS for my PC, so that shouldn't be the problem anymore. This weekend, I had a friend check it out. He noticed a lot of warnings about my CPU in the logs, and eventually, it seems to just reboot itself. It could happen whether I'm playing games or just idling.

We made sure everything is updated on the BIOS and drivers, and after cleaning and scanning for malware, the performance seems to have taken a hit—games I used to play smoothly are now lagging, even in titles like FFVII Rebirth and Yakuza 8. Last thing I did was run 3D Mark, and it looks like the CPU is at fault.

Can anyone suggest what else I could try? Did I miss something important?

It sounds like you've covered a lot already! Before you consider replacing your CPU, check your cooling setup. You didn’t mention the CPU cooler—sometimes overheating can cause random restarts. See if any crash logs or warnings mention temperatures. Consider reseating the CPU and replacing the thermal paste if you can. Also, if you have multiple RAM sticks, test them one at a time to rule out any faulty RAM.

I’m using the stock cooler that came with the CPU. From running 3D Mark, the temps were stable around 80C, with a spike. But you're right; I should check the logs more closely. Thanks!
