Hey everyone! I built this PC a few years back during the GPU shortage, and now I'm starting to experience some major bottlenecks while gaming. It seems like my CPU might be the weak link, so I'm looking for your opinions on how to upgrade. Here's the info on my setup:
- **GPU**: RTX 3060
- **CPU**: Intel Core i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz, 6 cores
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B560 HD3
- **RAM**: 16GB
Any advice or suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

Forget Intel and go for a Ryzen 7 CPU! You can also look into upgrading your GPU while you're at it. By the way, I'm selling a 4060 Ti for a good price if you're interested!
Do you have access to PCPartPicker for your country? What's your budget like? Also, what's your specific motherboard model? Along with the brand, speed, and latency of your RAM? Those details would help narrow down the best upgrade options!
Your CPU is definitely the main bottleneck here. Unless it's the 6GB version, you'd be limited by both CPU and GPU. You might consider a side-grade to a 3080 12GB, or even a 4060 Ti 16GB, 4070, or switching to AMD when the 9060XT drops or if you can snag a cheap 9070. Just a heads-up, if you go for the 3080, make sure to have at least a 700W 80+ Platinum/Gold power supply; 800W 80+ Silver is better.
I think it's time for a platform upgrade to AM5. That would really help you out. Check out this build I put together: [link].
Totally agree! If you want a bit more power, you could upgrade to a Ryzen 7 7700 for just $60 more.
If you’re upgrading the CPU, look at AM5 options like the 7600X, 7700, or the 9600X—especially the 7600X3D for a mid-range budget, or the 7800X3D if you’re willing to spend a bit more. You might want to focus more on the CPU since GPUs are still overpriced in many areas.
