Thinking About Upgrading to the i5 14600K: Is It Worth It?

I've been using my i5 12600 for about three years now, and I'm noticing significant performance drops lately. I'm considering upgrading to the i5 14600K, but it's priced at $290, which feels steep to me. I'm also hesitant about the idea of buying a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM because that would cost even more. What do you think I should do?

If you can, hold off on purchasing until there’s a sale. I picked up my i5 14600K for around $200, and I've seen it go as low as $229 for the 14600KF version, which doesn’t have integrated graphics. It’s worth keeping an eye out for deals!

I hear you on that! The price jumped to $285 here for the 14600KF too. I’m just as curious if it will drop again.

I’m in a similar boat and decided not to upgrade my i5 12600 just yet. Could you share what specific tasks or games have been showing reduced performance for you? I paired mine with a 5070 Ti and haven’t noticed any big issues.
