I'm transitioning to freelance work and setting up my own home editing rig. My main focus will be on 4K video editing for YouTube and social media, with some casual 1440p gaming on the side. I found a used RTX 3080 for about £300, which seemed like a good deal compared to newer models. I'm hoping to get feedback on my parts list and whether it's a solid choice for my needs. Here's what I've got:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 4.7 GHz 6-Core Processor (£175)
- **CPU Cooler:** Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black 46.4 CFM (£69.95)
- **Motherboard:** MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 (£134.99)
- **Memory:** Crucial Pro Overclocking 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 (£324.98)
- **Video Card:** Zotac GAMING Trinity OC GeForce RTX 3080 10GB (£300 used)
- **Case:** Corsair 275R Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
- **Power Supply:** MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular (£84)
I already have SSDs and other components. I'm looking forward to your thoughts!

I can't comment on the rest of your build, but I can say that the 3080 is excellent! I play games at 4K with mine, and it runs smoothly with some DLSS help on more demanding titles.
Make sure to mention the specific software you plan to use! Some communities have great resources where you can find tailored advice. For example, the DaVinci Resolve subreddit or a helpful YouTube video suggested an Intel CPU for optimal performance. NVMe storage is also worth considering if you haven't looked into that yet.
That case can handle CPU coolers up to 170mm tall, so you might want to look for a bigger cooler than the Noctua NH-U9S for a similar price. Something like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit could work well!
Thanks for the tip! I'll check out that cooler. I do have storage already.
Have you considered the Ryzen 9 5900X instead? It might suit your workload better.
Consider swapping your CPU cooler for the Thermalright Peerless Assassin. It's cheaper and offers better performance. Also, do you have storage set up yet?

I appreciate the info! I'll mainly be using Premiere Pro for basic editing, like cutting together 4K clips. No heavy stuff like 3D animations planned, haha.
