I'm looking to upgrade from my old i7-7700k and 1060 6GB, as they just can't handle new games anymore. I'm not a hardcore gamer but want to keep the option open for playing newer titles, and I also do some development work. My goal is to create a build that can last at least 8 years like my current setup has. Here's my current parts list for the new build:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
- **Cooler:** Cooler Master Hyper 212
- **Motherboard:** ASRock X870 Steel Legend
- **RAM:** Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB DDR5
- **Storage:** Patriot P400 Lite 1 TB SSD
- **Video Card:** Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 9060 XT
- **Case:** NZXT H5 Flow (2024)
- **Power Supply:** Corsair RM850x
Total cost is around $1218.93. Any thoughts or changes needed before I pull the trigger on this build?

If gaming isn't your main focus, you might want to think about going for Intel instead. I've found that for editing and development, Intel tends to be faster and more stable. You could even grab a nice combo deal for an i5-12600KF that includes a motherboard and RAM for around $369, which is a steal!
I think the build looks solid! Just a heads up about the motherboard color—why not match the theme? It seems odd to have a white motherboard with everything else black. But overall, everything else seems good!
Good point! The combo deal at Newegg influenced my choice.
For the cooler, check out options like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE. And consider a case that comes with fans, like the Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA, which has four included. Your chosen power supply is great but keep an eye on deals, as you can find good options for around $124.99.
Thanks for the suggestions! I wanted a reliable cooler, so I'll take a look. The fans are definitely a plus for the case too!
I appreciate the suggestion! I still play games, just not competitive FPS. My i7-7700k struggled with Baldur's Gate 3, so I'm looking for something that can handle newer games better.
