Thoughts on Upgrading My CPU for RX6800

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to eliminate some bottlenecking issues I'm facing with my RX6800. Right now, I'm working with an I5-10400f, and I'm experiencing FPS drops, especially since the RX6800 is still a solid card in 2026. I'm considering switching to an I5-14600k(f) and I'm also using 32GB of DDR4 RAM because DDR5 prices are a bit too high for me right now. What do you think about this setup? Will the I5-14600k perform well with my RX6800?

I think this combo should work just fine! The I5-14600k will definitely handle the RX6800 without issues.

Switching to the 14600kf is a smart move. While you might not see a huge jump in average FPS, your gaming experience will be much smoother. It'll also set you up well for when you're ready to upgrade the RX6800 in the future.

Since you're already replacing your motherboard, consider alternatives like the Ryzen 5700x3d. Prices are decent for the 5800x3d around here, making it a worthwhile option depending on your budget. Just keep in mind your overall workload demands.

True, but remember that the Ryzen 5700x3d doesn’t support DDR5. If future upgrades are on your mind, the I5-14600k is a better choice since it can handle both DDR4 and DDR5.
