Time for an 8-Year PC Upgrade—What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC after 8 long years and I'd love your advice. Here's my current setup:

- Processor: i5 7400F
- Video Card: GTX 1070
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4
- Motherboard: Gigabyte (not sure of the model)
- PSU: 500W
- SSD: 500GB WD (2020) + an older 120GB SSD for Windows since 2017.

Lately, I've been playing World of Warcraft, and I'm noticing my CPU is struggling while my RAM is hitting its limits. Interestingly, my video card is barely being utilized in-game. I only play a bit of Dota 2 during events, so I'm not pushing my system too hard right now.

With a budget of around 600 euros, I'm thinking of keeping my video card and switching to an AM4 setup, waiting for DDR6 before upgrading my RAM. Here's what I'm considering:
- An AM4 motherboard paired with a 5xxx X3D processor
- A new PSU, maybe 750W 80 Bronze?
- 32GB RAM

Then I'll upgrade again when DDR6 comes out. What do you all think? Any suggestions? Thanks a ton!

If you're looking for a decent upgrade, definitely consider going for an AM5 platform instead of sticking with AM4. A CPU like the 7600X or 7700X would give you a solid performance boost, especially since you're playing CPU-intensive games like WoW. Keep in mind that AM5 requires DDR5, so you’ll need to factor that into your budget too. It’s worth it for the long-term performance.

I hear you on the X3D being great for CPU-heavy games. If you're considering that route, just make sure you don't accidentally mix up the motherboard types! You won't be able to use an AM4 board with a 7000 series CPU.
