I'm having a frustrating issue with my new installation of Windows 11. Whenever I try to add a device or printer, the window just closes unexpectedly, and nothing happens. I've already tried several troubleshooting steps, including resetting the settings app, repairing Windows 11, resetting the network settings, and even reinstalling the settings app and Bluetooth drivers. I've checked for file corruption using the SFC /SCANNOW command, but my biggest problem seems to be that my Device Association Service won't run. I've messed with all the settings and rebooted multiple times, but every time I try to start the service, it crashes with the error message "The device association service on local computer started and then stopped..." Luckily, I have an Ethernet connection, but I really need to get this printer set up. Any suggestions?

Have you checked if the print spooler service is running? Sometimes, that can interfere with adding printers. It's a good idea to make sure that it's active while you attempt to add your device.
Yes, the print spooler is running! I thought I had covered that already, but thanks for pointing it out.

Good call! I totally overlooked that. I've seen the print spooler cause issues before, so it's definitely worth a shot.
