I'm trying to install AlmaLinux on a used Dell Optiplex 3000 thin client, but I keep running into problems. The system starts up fine and I can access the BIOS, where I've wiped the SSD that originally had Windows IoT. However, when I select the boot media, it goes through a couple of BIOS splash screens, displays 'headless mode active', and then just hangs on the Dell logo screen for 10-20 minutes before restarting. I can hear the machine responding and heating up, so it's not completely unresponsive since Ctrl+Alt+Del still works.
When I attempt to boot the same install media on my Windows machine, I can access the installation menu, but I get stuck on a known media test failure at 4.8%. I've tried using both minimal and full ISO images of AlmaLinux (version 10) with verified checksums, different USB drives, and methods like Rufus and BalenaEtcher, as well as using DD on my Ubuntu server.
If I could skip the splash screen, I might be able to see the installation menu and bypass the media test. I'm also considering writing zeros to the flash drive using DD to ensure it's completely clean before trying again. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
