Trouble Changing Monitor Refresh Rate After Crash

I was playing Minecraft with a friend when my main monitor suddenly went grey, so I shut down my PC. After rebooting, my main monitor started acting strangely—I'm unable to change the resolution and the refresh rate is terrible, dropping my FPS in the game from 300 to 10. To make things worse, my second monitor isn't working at all. The only way I can get a display from it is by connecting it to my motherboard, which isn't an ideal setup. I can provide more info if needed!

It sounds like your graphics card might be acting up. It’s possible that one of the ports has failed—often this means the card might need replacing. If you didn’t bump or alter it in any way, that seems less likely to be the issue, but it could still happen. Sometimes a corrupted driver might be the culprit, though I haven't encountered it causing a secondary monitor to go dead before.

This could just be a driver issue. I suggest you try using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove your current drivers and then do a fresh install. If you have an older Nvidia card, consider testing with a fresh Windows install as well. If the problem persists after trying that, your graphics card may be damaged.

I have a 6750 XT, so I’ll give DDU and a fresh install a shot!
