Trouble Connecting My Computer to the Internet on a New Router

I've just moved into my in-laws' house and I'm trying to connect my computer to the internet. I run a server, so I was hoping to adjust some settings if necessary. The problem is, while my computer connects to the wifi, it says there's no internet access. Other devices in the house work fine.

When I access the settings, I see a message indicating that "the IP setting for all WiFi networks have been set. The settings below won't be used." This appears for both IP and DNS settings, and my computer is set to obtain these automatically via DHCP. I can edit the settings manually, but I'm not sure what values to enter. I can see the necessary details like the wifi SSID, IPv4 address, gateway, DNS, and MAC address, but I'm stuck. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! My computer really means a lot to me.

You might want to take a look at the router’s settings directly. If you can, try to access it through a browser using the router’s IP address. It could help you see if there's an IP address range configured that allows for your device. You can find the router’s IP by running "ipconfig /all" in the command prompt and looking for "default gateway."

Have you checked if the WiFi works on other devices? Just to confirm that the issue is strictly with your computer and not the network.

Yes, the WiFi is working perfectly fine on all other devices in the house.

It sounds like there might be some manual configurations left over from your old setup. Make sure your computer is actually set to use DHCP. If it's using manual settings, that could be causing the issue. Check your OS settings to confirm. Also, since you're on Windows 11, double-check if your IP settings default to automatic.

Yeah, I had manually set my old router too, but I figured it was all reset with the move. I’ll check my DHCP settings.

Don't forget to check if MAC filtering is enabled on the router. If it’s on, you’ll need to add your computer's MAC address to the safe list to allow it to connect. That can definitely block your access if it’s overlooked.
