I've been having some frustrating internet issues lately. I connect via ethernet and while my speeds seem fine, the connection is choppy, leading to disconnections every 5 to 10 minutes, especially when I'm gaming or live streaming. Interestingly, using a VPN improves the connection somewhat, but I still experience choppiness periodically. I've already reinstalled my network adapter drivers and contacted my ISP, who insists everything is working fine on their end. I've also ruled out network cables by replacing them. Do you think this could be a hardware issue with my desktop? If so, what specific parts should I look into?

Have you checked if other devices experience the same trouble? Sometimes the issue might be more widespread than it seems. If you have a phone or another device, try testing them on Wi-Fi to compare.
To troubleshoot, start by testing the speeds directly from your modem, then check the router, and finally from the cable to your device. This way, you can identify if there’s a problem in the connection path from your ISP to your setup.
Got it! Just keep me posted. If the speeds don’t show significant drops, the choppy connection might still be a hardware issue somewhere along the line.
My modem's on the second floor, so it might take a bit to do those tests, but I’m getting on it.
I don’t have another PC to test with, but I've noticed that about 1 out of 3 times, my phone disconnects while using Wi-Fi as well.
