Trouble with DishTV Guide Display in Apartment: What Should I Do?

I've got DishTV included in my apartment amenities, and it's hooked up via a coaxial cable from the wall to my TV. I can watch channels just fine, but the TV guide isn't showing any program details—it just says there's no program available. My landlord contacted the provider, who suggested that the coax cable might be the issue. Has anyone faced a similar problem? What steps should I take to resolve this?

Just to clarify, are you connecting the coax directly from the wall to your TV, or is there a Dish box involved? In setups like that, it usually goes coax to the box, and then HDMI to the TV. How are you trying to access the guide?

From what you described, if the coax cable was really bad, you’d likely have trouble with the picture, too. This might be more of an apartment-wide issue. Have other tenants experienced similar problems?

It sounds weird, but this might not be just a cable issue. Sometimes the satellite alignment can throw things off. The satellites can have various data streams, so you may get the shows but not the guide info. You might want to check the satellite signal strength settings on your Dish box if there’s an option for that.

Have you tried doing a re-scan of the channels? Sometimes the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) can get corrupted and a re-scan can fix it. Might be worth a shot if you haven't already.
