My grandma is having issues with her Dell Inspiron 5502 laptop, as it keeps saying there are no bootable devices. I took a look at it since I work in networking. I opened the back cover and noticed that the connection labeled 'SSD2' was empty. I'm curious if there's an 'SSD1' that I'm just not finding. I also have a slight concern that someone might have stolen the hard drive, although that seems unlikely. I attached a picture of the laptop for context.

Lol, maybe next time just tell your grandma you need to do better and stop asking random people on the internet for help! But seriously, have you looked closely to see if the SSD is just loose or malfunctioning?
Also, a quick tip: if the laptop won’t boot at all, you might want to try resetting the BIOS settings or checking if the SSD is detected there. Sometimes it's just a matter of a bad connection too.
Hey, it sounds like you might be jumping to conclusions about the hard drive being stolen. It's more likely that the SSD failed. They can just die sometimes without warning, especially if the laptop is a bit older. Maybe check out some diagnostics options if you can get it powered on again.
Yeah, those SSDs are tiny, too! I remember when I first saw one I couldn't believe how small they are. It could definitely be worth taking a closer look to see if it's actually there.
Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely check the BIOS next time I have it open.
