Trouble with Micro-Stuttering in Games: Is It the Driver or My CPU?

I'm experiencing random micro-stuttering in all my games, which feels like instant .1 second hitches. My FPS dips a bit, but then it smooths out again. Even though my GPU usage seems to be high, I see frametime spikes. I've got a solid setup with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU, PNY RTX 5080 GPU, and plenty of RAM, but I've tried various fixes like enabling EXPO and disabling the iGPU. I even reset Windows and monitored the temperatures with HWiNFO to ensure nothing is throttling, but everything looks fine. LatencyMon is showing high DPC latency. I'm wondering if the 591.59 NVIDIA driver might be causing these stutters, or could it be an issue with my CPU? Should I think about downgrading my NVIDIA driver, and if so, what version would be best?

Did you check if CPU usage spikes at all during those stutters? It could give you clues. My experience shows that if the CPU briefly spikes during a stutter, it might be workload-related.

Yeah, I did see the CPU usage spike a bit during those stutters, but overall it doesn't look overloaded.

I've noticed that the 591.xx driver has had some performance hiccups for a lot of users. I recommend rolling back to version 581.xx and checking if that resolves your stuttering issue. It’s worth a shot!
