Trouble with My Prebuilt PC’s Power Supply – Should I Be Worried?

I'm dealing with an issue on my prebuilt PC where the power supply unit (PSU) needs to be restarted every time I power on the system, otherwise it overheats and shuts down. Most of the time, I can just restart it and everything runs fine again, but I'm concerned if this is harmful for my computer in the long run. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice?

While you're not technically damaging your PC just by resetting the PSU, it's a red flag. If the PSU has issues like blowing a capacitor, that could lead to bigger problems. Better to get it checked out by the manufacturer, even if it costs a little to ship it back.

Yeah, I thought about that, but shipping it back was going to cost around $100, and I wasn't keen on that. I'd rather try to fix it myself or find a workaround.

It sounds like something might not be quite right with your PSU. It’s definitely not normal for it to heat up like that. I’d suggest reaching out to the customer support for your prebuilt. They might be able to help you out.
