Trouble with Performance Issues on My Gaming PC

Hi everyone! I'm using a prebuilt desktop with Windows 11, and I need some help figuring out the performance issues I'm experiencing. My system includes a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12400F CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, 64 GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM, a 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD, and a 650W Gold Plus PSU, all on an Intel B660 chipset motherboard. Despite this, I'm struggling to achieve more than 30 FPS in modern games, even on low settings like Deadlock and Fortnite. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm hoping for some advice on identifying any bottlenecks or odd behavior in my setup. I'm open to upgrading components if needed to improve my gaming experience. Thanks in advance!

What monitor are you using? If it’s a 4K monitor, that could be part of the issue, as your system should still handle 1080p just fine. Have you tried updating your Nvidia drivers? Sometimes that can make a difference in performance, too.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm on a Dell S3222DGW, usually keeping it at 1080p. I've updated my Nvidia drivers recently (as of 1/28/2026), which makes this performance issue even more puzzling.

Got it! It's strange to see such low FPS at 1080p with your setup. Maybe there’s a background process or setting in the BIOS that needs adjustment?

It sounds like a typo in your CPU model; did you mean the i5-12400F? If you’ve got the 12400F, check how your CPU and GPU are performing while you’re gaming. If your GPU isn’t hitting 100% usage, that might mean your CPU is holding it back, especially if you're playing on lower settings and resolutions. This leads to lower FPS, which can feel frustrating. Here's a link that might help you out: [PC Bottlenecks Explained](https://www.pcworld.com/article/1955495/pc-bottlenecks-cpu-or-cpu-limiting-gaming-performance.html). Just a heads-up, though, the RTX 4060 is best for 1080p, so if you're gaming on a higher resolution, that could explain the low frames too.
