Troubleshooting BitLocker Recovery Issues on Dell Machines

I've been dealing with a surge of boot issues lately on Dell laptops where they keep hitting the BitLocker Recovery screen. It's been particularly frustrating because even once we enter the recovery key, we still encounter sound issues. Has anyone else run into this problem, or figured out what might be causing it? I'd love to share insights and solutions!

From my experience, this BitLocker issue isn't always related directly to BitLocker itself. Sometimes the PCs just aim for the recovery screen but need manual unlocking. If you hold the power button until it shuts down and then restart, it usually bypasses that screen and goes straight to login.

Thanks for that tip! I've been missing out on this kind of workaround for a while now.

But entering the recovery key still sends it back to that screen, at least for this situation. I find entering it twice helps, and then it starts repairing.

Did you follow Microsoft's recommendations to adjust some settings in Intune? We dealt with a slew of BitLocker resets too, but disabling certain policies and tweaking a registry key improved things a bit for us.

No Intune usage here, but I also notice it needs the recovery key entered twice before it behaves. It's so tiring.

It sounds like this might stem from the recent KB5077241 Preview Update; we’ve noticed several Dell machines booting to automatic repair since it was rolled out. I mean, this update has caused chaos for quite a few of us!

Totally agree! That update has messed up about 60 laptops at our place before we pulled it back. Can't believe it's still causing issues.

Why would anyone roll out non-security updates in a production environment? It's just asking for trouble.

This seems to be affecting multiple Dell models and lines—we're seeing it everywhere, from in-office to remote setups. It's frustrating no one can pinpoint why it's so widespread.

Agreed. I've noticed similar issues with HPs too, and the event logs aren't showing anything useful.

It's being reported as related to a Secure Boot certificate update. If BitLocker isn't paused, you might need to enter the key one or two times during boot, which can be annoying.

This is exactly what we've been seeing. Each time someone boots up, they have to mess with the recovery screen.
