I've been dealing with some frustrating issues on my old PC after upgrading my GPU a couple of years ago. The system is around 10 years old, and after installing a Gigabyte GT 520 1GB video card, I started experiencing sound stuttering and system freezes, which I believe were not caused by the speakers. I've had to reboot quite a few times due to these problems. The PC has been rarely cleaned and is mostly used for office tasks. Here are the specs:
- Processor: Intel Core i3-540
- GPU: Gigabyte GT 520 1GB (new)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2V
- PSU: Chieftec CHP-500A
I've checked the PSU, and it looks normal with no leaks or swollen capacitors. Can anyone help me figure out what might be wrong?

Have you checked for any updates that might have been installed around the time the issues started? Try completely uninstalling your GPU drivers and reinstalling the latest version. But honestly, given the age of your PC, there's a chance that multiple components could be failing, which is something to keep in mind.
I've heard a few people say the power supply could be the issue, and I'm starting to lean that way too. Just wondering how I can check it. I was using Windows 7 when the problems kicked in.
