Hey everyone! I'm having some trouble with a recently installed Windows 11 (Education) PC that was set up to allow remote desktop access. The previous computer wasn't having any issues with remote connections, but ever since the switch, this new one has been acting up. It's part of our domain and has folder redirection to a virtual file server. We use Cisco AnyConnect to VPN in and then connect via the PC's hostname. It worked fine at first but now it sometimes shows a black screen with a message saying 'please wait' and just freezes. I could really use some help figuring this out because this is for a VIP staff member, and I want to make sure I cover all bases when I go back to resolve this. Any tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

Make sure to check for any OS or video card driver updates. Also, try connecting via RDP from the local network instead of through the VPN. It could help identify if the issue is network-related. Look into the event viewer for any errors that might indicate what's going wrong, as it might be driver-related. Good luck!
Is Remote Desktop enabled in the settings? Check if the IP address and hostname match up. You mentioned it's set up by GPO, which should typically allow access, but it never hurts to double-check!
Have you tried pinging the PC when you lose the remote connection? Sometimes, PCs can turn off their network adapters to save power. If you're unable to ping it, that might be the issue—check your power settings!
Sounds like you might need to escalate this one to a more experienced IT person or even consider hiring a managed service provider to help out. They can get to the bottom of these issues quickly.
