Hey everyone! I just built my first custom gaming PC and it's running great overall, but I'm facing some issues with the direct Ethernet connection. Right after I set up Windows, the Ethernet speed was super slow, which I've heard can happen initially. I installed all the necessary Ethernet and WiFi drivers, and the speed picked up after about 30 minutes. However, my Ethernet connection suddenly dropped out, and I had to switch to Wi-Fi to install some additional drivers. After getting the Ethernet back, I noticed the download speeds were alarmingly low, between 3-6 Mbps, and the latency was high. Meanwhile, my Wi-Fi connection was hitting around 300 Mbps. Once I switched back to Wi-Fi, I couldn't get the Ethernet to connect at all. I'm really concerned about the poor latency and download speeds when connected directly. If anyone has any tips or advice to help improve my Ethernet connection, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'll share my motherboard and other specs in the comments. Thanks a lot!

Make sure to check your Ethernet cable and update the LAN driver directly from your motherboard's website. You might also want to set the adapter to 1.0 Gbps full duplex in Device Manager. If you still have issues, the onboard Ethernet might be faulty. As a backup, consider getting a USB-to-Ethernet adapter or a PCIe network card!
Thanks for the tips! I'm actually getting a USB-to-Ethernet adapter delivered while I'm away this weekend. If it fixes the problem, I'm definitely giving you an award!
