Troubleshooting SSLVPN File Share Authentication Issues

I'm having a problem with file shares over Sonicwall SSLVPN. Any computer that's joined to my domain can't authenticate to the file shares when connected via SSLVPN. I can ping the servers and endpoints by both name and IP, and I can join the domain over the VPN. Surprisingly, I can access the shares after entering my credentials, but if I reboot, I lose access and have to remap them. I can access the shares fine using IP addresses, but there's an issue when using hostnames. I keep getting an error stating, 'The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request. Please try again later.' My client settings seem fine since they're pointing to the correct DNS. Non-domain devices don't have this issue when accessing over the VPN. Has anyone encountered this before or have any suggestions?

It sounds like you can reach things by IP but not by hostname, which usually points to a DNS issue. You mentioned that you can ping by hostname and even get RDP connections, so it’s strange. Have you checked your DNS settings? Also, if you're using a firewall, sometimes they can choke and lead to odd issues like this if they’re low on RAM. Just throwing ideas out there!

Yeah, I totally get that! It seems like a DNS suffix issue could be at play here. It might be worth checking if the VPN connection is adding the right DNS search suffixes for your domain.
