I've hit the token limit in ChatGPT before and it was a bit traumatic. I'm curious if there's a way to manage this. If I go back and change a previous message, will it delete the tokens used in the messages that come after it? Or will those tokens still count because I can access previous messages using the arrows? I hope I explained this well!

When you submit a message, it uses up tokens, even if you later edit an earlier message. If you change what you said, the new prompt won't keep any of the tokens from the text that came after it, but the tokens from earlier messages are still counted. So, unfortunately, you can't free up that token space just by editing.
Got it. Thanks! Do you think there will be a way to customize tokens in the future so it won't count up space on unnecessary stuff?
