Upgrading from a GTX 1060 to a 9060 XT: What Performance Boost Can I Expect?

I'm currently using a GTX 1060 6GB for gaming, specifically for Helldivers 2 (which I run on Medium settings) and Minecraft (with shaders and a 32 chunk render distance), and I'm getting around 60fps. I'm looking to upgrade to a 9060 XT 16GB, as I want to max out both games and hit 144Hz at 1080p. Is the 9060 XT a good choice? Will I see a noticeable performance increase? I'm also planning to upgrade my CPU to a 5700X3D soon alongside a new GPU. My budget for the GPU is around £350, and I'm not interested in buying used GPUs due to some bad past experiences.

+163% performance increase according to various benchmarks, so you should see a significant uplift with that upgrade.

If you're looking at the benchmarks, the 9060 XT is around 4% faster than the 7700 XT. Compare the performance of the 1060 with the 7700 XT, and that should give you a good idea of what to expect with the upgrade.

That’s a great point! It’s always good to look at the comparison charts.

The 9060 XT is much more powerful than the 1060. Even without your upcoming CPU upgrade, it shouldn’t hold back your performance much. Definitely a solid choice!

Keep in mind that Helldivers 2 is quite CPU-heavy, but expect a massive boost in performance overall. Plus, with the 9060 XT, you'll be able to utilize ray tracing in games that require it, which is a nice bonus.

Helldivers 2 should perform really well with the 9060 XT. However, keep in mind that in Minecraft, performance is largely dependent on your CPU, especially with shaders. You might still see some improvement, though!

Exactly! The shaders may still benefit from a stronger GPU, but the CPU will likely be the main limitation in Minecraft.
