Upgrading from i7-10700K to i9-10900K: Is it Worth It for MSFS 2020?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using an i7-10700K with an RTX 3090 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, and I've been experiencing some performance issues lately. While flying, especially with the Fenix A320 loaded and streaming through OBS, my CPU usage spikes. Interestingly, MSFS shows only about 60% CPU usage overall, but my GPU usage is pretty low at around 35-42%, which makes me think I'm hitting a main thread limitation. My temps are fine at around 70°C, but performance is struggling more than before. Since I'm on the LGA1200 socket, I don't want to do a complete platform upgrade right now, but I'm considering swapping my 10700K for an i9-10900K. Would this upgrade provide a significant boost in performance for multitasking and streaming in MSFS, or should I just wait and invest in a newer platform altogether? I'd love to hear any personal experiences you have! Thanks!

Honestly, upgrading to the i9-10900K may not be worth it. You might see a slight improvement, but it probably won’t be a game-changer for your setup. I’d suggest trying overclocking your current CPU first if you haven’t already. If that still doesn't cut it, then maybe consider a platform upgrade instead.

Yeah, I totally get that! I’ve already got my system overclocked to 4.9GHz—could push it to 5.0GHz but stability is key. Just to clarify, my cores are all maxed out, not just the main thread.
