Hey everyone! I'm considering an upgrade from my current Intel i7-6700K since my onboard network card is failing and Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 soon. Plus, I'm hoping for better performance with a newer CPU and the potential benefits of ReBar, which my old Z270 motherboard doesn't support without extra patches. Here's my current setup:
- Intel i7-6700K with a Noctua cooler (but I'm planning to replace that too)
- Asus Strix Z270H Gaming motherboard
- 32 GB of DDR4 RAM (2x8GB 3200MHz and 2x8GB 3400MHz)
- AMD Radeon 6750 XT graphics card
- Various storage and peripherals including a 32-inch 4K monitor and some 1080p displays.
So, I'm looking at two options: the Ryzen 7 5700X3D for €331 total (including a motherboard and RAM upgrade) or the Ryzen 5 7500F for about €360. I've heard the 5700X3D may offer better value, especially for my workloads since I often run multiple VMs. However, I'm a bit uncertain about the differences in performance, especially concerning the 3D cache vs. clock speed. Also, if I go with AM5, what should I look for in RAM? Any advice on which upgrade path is better – or if there's a third option I should consider? Thanks!

I’d definitely recommend going with the AM5 platform if your budget allows. It offers better longevity with future CPU support, plus the 5700X3D has an edge in performance with its extra cores. It's more future-proof, especially for your workload.
