Upgrading My 1070Ti – Need Your Advice!

Hey everyone! I'm finally ready to upgrade my setup after 8 years with my trusty 1070Ti and i7 8700k. I've noticed it's struggling with some of the newer games, so I'm looking to build a new PC that can handle high-refresh rate 1440p gaming and streaming on Twitch. I'm into a mix of e-sport titles like Overwatch 2 and League of Legends, as well as some upcoming AAA games like Cyberpunk and GTA 6.

Here's the build I've considered so far:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (I know this is a top performer and worth the investment for CPU-heavy games)
- **Cooling**: DeepCool AK620 Digital or Noctua NH-D15 (I get that the Noctua is good but not the prettiest)
- **GPU**: Unsure between the 5070 Ti and 4080 Super, or if I should invest more in a 5080 for future-proofing. Should I go custom brands like ASUS or Gigabyte?
- **Motherboard**: I need one that has Wi-Fi and supports my components; B850 or X870 Chipset was suggested, but I'm not sure.
- **Storage**: 2TB NVMe PCIe Gen5 SSD plus a 2TB SATA SSD
- **Power Supply**: 750W or 850W (leaning towards 850W for safety)
- **Case**: Considering Lian Li or Fractal designs.
- **Monitor**: Aiming for a 27" 1440p OLED monitor, still deciding which one.

Any recommendations on my build or thoughts on totally different setups? I want something that will last and keep up with games in the next few years. Thanks for your help!

Sounds like a solid upgrade path! The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is indeed one of the best options right now for gaming. Your cooling choices are great, and if you’re worried about aesthetics, the NH-D15 has an all-black version which might fit better visually.

For the GPU, if you’re already investing in a good CPU, the 5080 will definitely future-proof your build well. I'd steer clear of the 4080 Super. Custom versions like the ASUS TUF are usually more reliable and better cooled, so I’d recommend that too.

For the motherboard, a B850 should serve you just fine. Make sure it has strong VRMs and enough PCIe slots for upgrades. Regarding storage, while you won't see much performance gain in gaming from a PCIe SSD, they’re pretty cheap now, so it won’t hurt to grab one.

Aiming for an 850W PSU is smart - I’d go with the Corsair RM850x. And for cases, I really like the Fractal Torrent for its airflow and building space. Finally, check out the ASUS XG27AQDM; it'll give you an amazing picture.

Thanks for the tips! I wasn't aware of the black version of the cooler. Also, your suggestion about the PSU sounds great. I'm leaning towards making that investment. Got my eyes on that monitor too; excited to see some reviews!
