Upgrading My 5-Year-Old PC for Gaming—Need Your Recommendations!

Hey everyone! I'm looking to spruce up my 5-year-old PC so I can game at higher settings. I want to play new titles like Oblivion Remastered and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid with stable FPS, ideally on high settings.

I've got a budget of €1,000-€1,200, and I'm hoping to upgrade mainly the CPU, GPU, and motherboard. I'm in Portugal and am flexible with GPU brands, but I would prefer to go with an AMD CPU. I also considered a 4K high refresh rate monitor, but after some input, I might just stick with a 1440p 144Hz display instead.

Here's my current setup (just ignore the SATA storage):

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core
- Motherboard: ASRock B550M Pro4 Micro ATX
- GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB
- 32 GB DDR4-3200 Memory
- Storage: Crucial MX500 500 GB and 1 TB SSDs
- Power Supply: Corsair RM850 850 W

What do you guys suggest to get the best out of my budget for upgrading? Thanks a ton!

With your budget, I'd recommend going for a Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU and a Radeon RX 7900 XT. That combo should give you solid performance, though reaching 4K high refresh rates might not be feasible since that's pretty demanding. Many systems struggle with that, and you'll likely find 4K-ready GPUs priced higher than your budget.

This setup sounds promising! I'm leaning towards a better 1440p monitor anyway. Appreciate the advice!
