Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my AM4 build because I've been playing the BF6 beta and it's running really poorly on my current setup, which includes a Ryzen 3700X and an RX 6800. I'd like to reuse most of my parts, but I'm torn between getting an Intel 14600K or an AMD 7600X3D. I've heard the prices for AMD are pretty high, especially for the 7600X3D and 7800X3D, which I can't really afford right now. On the flip side, I've been told that the Intel 14600K is cheaper, especially since you can get Battlefield 6 bundled with it for under $100. However, I've read mixed opinions; some say LGA1700 is a dead end and not worth it because of degradation issues, while others say those problems have been fixed. I'd love to hear your thoughts and advice on this!

Honestly, I wouldn't spend over $150 on AM4 X3D chips. Focus your budget on a modern platform instead. Just make sure that the 14600K is still priced around $150 since its sale might have ended. Performance-wise, it’s comparable to the 9700X.
I play BF6 with a 6800XT and regularly hit over 120 FPS. If you're worried about cost, switching to Intel or AM5 might not save you much compared to just going back to the 5700X3D, which doesn't come bundled with BF6, making the 14600K deal a better value overall.
Check out this short video; it gives a quick overview of whether you'd prefer the 14600K or AMD based on your upgrade plans. If you think you might upgrade again within the AM5 lifespan, AMD could be a smarter investment. Otherwise, the 14600K is solid value for the price you’d be paying.
The 14600K is a good pick if you're set on a motherboard upgrade, but consider going for DDR5 as well. Just know LGA1700 won't see new CPUs in the future, so if you think you'll upgrade again in the next few years, maybe grab a 7600X or a 9600X for AM5 instead. Both will do great for BF6.
Why would anyone want to upgrade from the 14600K so soon? Just curious!
If you can snag that 14600K plus BF6 for around $150 and get a DDR4 board for about $80-$100, it’s a fantastic deal. I switched from a 5700X3D to the 14600K and it's been incredible. Just make sure you keep your BIOS updated and undervolt it to 1.25V for optimal performance; mine never goes above 61°C. Plus, it comes with a 5-year warranty, so you're covered if anything goes wrong!
That video really simplifies the options! Worth a watch.
