Upgrading my CPU but having BIOS issues – any advice?

I recently ordered a Ryzen 7 5700X to upgrade my current setup, which has a Ryzen 3 5300G. My motherboard is the HP 8906, and although it has the same socket type, I'm running into trouble. My computer won't display anything when I try to install the new CPU, and I've heard that I might need to update the BIOS to make it compatible. However, I can't find an option to update the BIOS on my motherboard. Has anyone dealt with this kind of issue or has information about this motherboard?

Unfortunately, it seems like your motherboard may not support the Ryzen 7 5700X at all. According to HP's support site, the HP 8906 only officially supports the Ryzen 3 5300G, the Ryzen 5 5600G, and the Ryzen 5 5700G. Usually, if you had a motherboard from a traditional manufacturer, a BIOS update could enable support for more CPUs, but HP systems often have limitations. You might want to consider either returning the 5700X and going for the 5700G or investing in a new motherboard, which may require a new PSU and case as well if your current one isn't compatible.

It's a tough call! The 5700G is still a solid choice, especially for gaming and multitasking, but if you're looking for a longer-term upgrade, it might be worth getting a new motherboard instead. Just make sure you have the budget for it.
