Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my CPU because I've been playing some CPU-intensive games like Warzone and Battlefield 6, but I'm only getting around 70 FPS. I'm aiming for about 150 FPS on average if possible without having to replace everything in my setup. Here's what I'm working with: I've got an Asus B660 Prime-Plus D4 motherboard, an NVIDIA GeForce 3060 Ti for my GPU, an i5-12600KF for my CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 for cooling. I'm not too sure about my PSU. Since I'm a competitive gamer, it feels like my CPU just isn't cutting it anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
P.S. After checking my CPU and GPU usage, it seems like an upgrade for the GPU is needed too, but my CPU usage is still around 85% when gaming.

Lowering your graphics settings can definitely help. I hit my FPS cap with a 13600K using very low settings. If you aren't already, try dropping those settings to see if it helps boost your performance!

You might also want to test out lowering the graphics settings. Sometimes Resolution and Quality settings can make a big difference! If lowering those boosts your FPS, it's definitely a sign you need a better GPU. If the FPS barely changes, then it could be time to look at CPU options.
I'm definitely willing to try that out when the beta comes back! Any suggestions on what to upgrade to?
Honestly, if you're looking to double your FPS, the first thing you'd want to upgrade is your graphics card, not your CPU. Based on your current setup, it looks like your 3060 Ti might be holding you back more than your CPU, especially if it's not maxing out while you're gaming.
But the games I'm playing are pretty demanding on the CPU, right?
That's true, but if your GPU isn't at full capacity, it won't be able to boost your FPS much. Have you checked your usage?
The others are right, a faster GPU will likely help your situation more than upgrading your CPU at this point. Your i5-12600KF should still be capable of much more. Consider something like a 7800X3D down the line if you do want a CPU upgrade, but for now focus on the GPU. You could see a significant jump in performance without breaking the bank if you choose wisely.
What do you think about switching to a 5070 instead of a more expensive option like the 9070 XT?
A 5070 would definitely be a good choice for balance between price and performance!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll test it out when I can.
