Hey everyone! I have an HP Elitedesk 800 G2 SFA, and I'm trying to upgrade it so I can run Fusion 360 and Bambu Studio more smoothly. Right now, I'm experiencing a lot of freezing and lagging while using Bambu Studio. Any advice on how I can improve its performance would be greatly appreciated!

The main issue you’ll face is the 8GB of RAM. That’s pretty low for any professional software, so I recommend grabbing a 2x16GB kit of DDR4 RAM at the very least. However, keep in mind that your CPU is over 10 years old, meaning upgrades won't yield amazing results. Personally, I wouldn't invest a ton of money into that setup; it might be better to look for a new system altogether.

Would it be better to just spend around $600 on a used MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro chip or get a Mac Mini with an M2 chip instead? This might offer a more significant performance boost than upgrading your current HP.

First off, I need to know what CPU and how much RAM you currently have. From what you've said, it sounds like you might not be using a mini version, but that can limit your choices. One major limitation is the power supply and the absence of 6 or 8 pin connectors for a new GPU. Also, let me know how deep your PC case is—there are some really long GPUs out there that could cause space issues. Check the HP website for your model to see if they list specific upgrade options.
