Upgrading My Motherboard and CPU: What Should I Do About Windows?

Hey all, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to PC upgrades and I need some advice. I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard and CPU, specifically moving from an Asus Rog Strix B550F-GAMING (Wi-Fi) to an MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk Wi-Fi. I'll also be upgrading my processor from a Ryzen 5 5600X to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. My Windows 11 is installed on my NVMe SSD, and I'm wondering if I can just unplug the SSD and connect it to the new motherboard, or if I need to do something else. Just to note, my Windows is a retail version. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks!

You can definitely give it a shot! It's generally safe to just plug in your SSD to the new motherboard. However, the best practice is to do a fresh install of Windows when changing motherboards to avoid any potential compatibility issues.

Thanks for the insight! So should I wipe my current Windows from the SSD before doing the new installation?
