Hey everyone! A few months back, I picked up a budget pre-built PC (definitely not my ideal choice, but I was in a pinch). It's been working fine, but I'm running into issues because it doesn't support TPM 2.0, which is preventing me from playing certain games. I know a bit about building PCs, but I haven't made such choices on my own yet. I'm not looking for anything overly fancy since my setup isn't top-tier (currently using an RTX 3050, an older Intel i7 CPU, and 16GB of DDR3 RAM, all for around £300). I also need some tips on how to actually swap the motherboard out because I believe the CPU is attached to it and everything connects there. Thanks in advance for any help!

I learned something new today — some games do indeed require TPM 2.0 to run! You can check what motherboard and CPU you have using a tool like HWInfo. Knowing these details is crucial since you might not need a full motherboard swap; you could possibly just add a TPM module if your current motherboard has the necessary port. Once you have your CPU info, you can search for motherboards compatible with it. For instance, you might look for something like 'LGA1150 motherboard with TPM 2.0' depending on your setup.
What CPU are you using, by the way? If it's really old, that might limit your upgrade options, especially considering your RAM type. Might be good to check that out first!

It's an Intel i7-4790.
