Hey everyone! I'm planning on upgrading my 7-year-old microATX setup from a Ryzen 7 2700 to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, along with a Phantom Spirit 120SE cooler. While I'm at it, I'd like to swap my sticky Bitfenix Prodigy M case for a new one, possibly a D31. Before I dive into this, are there any potential issues with this upgrade due to the age of my PC? I'm particularly worried about things like screws breaking or anything else I should watch out for. If the risks outweigh the benefits, I might just stick with my current setup. Thanks for the help!

Hah, why is your case sticky though? But seriously, you should blow out all the dust from your old case first, your nose will thank you for it! Just to ease your mind, the age shouldn't really affect anything; microATX motherboards still have the same mounting pattern. Just take your time, be careful not to drop any tools on the motherboard or break any PCIe tabs. Also, don’t forget to update your motherboard’s BIOS before you swap out the old CPU!
If you're worried about the stickiness, one quick fix is to clean it up with some isopropyl alcohol and then apply lacquer or shellac over the area. But honestly, after 7 years, I totally get wanting a change! Good luck with the upgrade!
