Upgrading My PC: Can I Just Swap the CPU and GPU, or Do I Need a New Motherboard?

Hey everyone! I'm new to building PCs and looking to upgrade my older setup that's been lagging. Currently, I have a B660M DS3H AX DDR4 motherboard, and I'm considering installing a Ryzen 5 5600 and an Nvidia GTX 2070 Super. Will these components work with my motherboard, or do I need to get a new one? I apologize if this sounds like a silly question!

Your motherboard is compatible only with Intel's 12th to 14th generation CPUs, so you'll need a new motherboard to use the Ryzen 5 5600. I'd suggest you check compatibility lists online, as they can help you see what CPUs will work with your current setup.

You should definitely get comfortable with PCPartPicker. It’s a fantastic tool for checking compatibility between parts. As for your current situation, it seems like switching to the Ryzen setup would require a whole new motherboard, since your current one only supports Intel processors.
