I'm looking to upgrade my custom-built PC and have a couple of questions. First, I currently use an external modem but I'm thinking about switching to an internal one. Do I need to replace the motherboard for that? Secondly, I'm considering getting a bigger hard drive. If I do, can I move all my data to the new drive without reinstalling everything? Thanks for any advice!

To clarify your modem situation, most modern setups don't really have internal modems. The kind you're using is common for WiFi connections. Just making sure you want a WiFi card instead of a full modem!
As for the hard drive, definitely check out Clonezilla for cloning. It's user-friendly if you're comfortable with using USB tools. Just ensure you have both drives connected during the process; it's pretty straightforward!
Agreeing with the others about the modem details. If possible, let us know the model of your current modem for more precise advice! Regarding your hard drive upgrade, you should have no trouble transferring everything over. Most brands offer software for cloning, so you can directly copy your old drive onto the new one. You may need to temporarily connect both drives to do it.
It sounds like you're using a USB WiFi adapter for your internet. If you want to switch to an internal modem, you can install a WiFi card, assuming you have a free PCIe slot. If not, a USB WiFi adapter is a good alternative.
For your hard drive, you can definitely clone your old drive to the new one, which means you won’t have to reinstall all your software. It should make the process a lot smoother!
Yes, I get what you're saying about your current setup. Moving to a more integrated solution sounds better! And cloning will save you a lot of hassle, especially with all the software you have!

Cool, I'll look up Clonezilla! I think I also have a tech store nearby that could help with moving my files. That could save a lot of time!
