Upgrading My PC for 4K Gaming: Where Should I Start?

I'm considering upgrading my current PC or building a new one, but I'm not sure where to begin. My current setup includes a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, an RTX 3060TI GPU, and 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. If needed, I can provide details on other components. I'm thinking of upgrading to either a Ryzen 7 9700X or a 9800X3D for the processor. For the graphics card, I'm looking at the RX 9060XT or a 5070. Are these good upgrades worth pursuing? I have 4K monitors and want to achieve good FPS in gaming. My budget for a full rebuild is around $2,000, but I could stretch it if it means a better 4K gaming experience. I appreciate any help or advice!

For 4K gaming, I'd recommend putting your budget heavily into the GPU. You might even get by with just upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600x or 5700x and investing in the best GPU you can get, since you'll be GPU-bound at that resolution. The RX 9060 XT isn't really ideal for 4K; the 5070 might be better if you aim for 60fps, but be aware that its 12GB VRAM might cause some limitations at 4K down the line.

I think the RX 9070 XT would be a better option for stable 60fps in 4K. If you're looking for GPU suggestions, set aside about $1,000, and I'll help you find the best fit!

Focusing on your GPU is key for 4K since most games will be limited by it. I suggest going with an R5 9600X and an RX 9070 XT. If you're near a Microcenter, check out their bundles; they sometimes have deals like a 9800X3D bundled with a compatible motherboard at a good price. This setup should get you up and running nicely!

Thanks for the tip! I live near a Microcenter, so I’ll definitely check those bundles. If I can add a bit more to my budget, is there a GPU you recommend for 4K? Your help is appreciated!
